Women escape 'wilful' fire in Carment Drive
17 OctoberA fire in Carment Drive on Saturday morning was started deliberately, police believe
Two women escaped the fire in the early hours of October 15 - a 31-year-old leapt from a first-floor window, while a 34-year-old was rescued by firefighters. Both were taken to hospital but it's thought that neither was seriously injured.
Police have described the fire as "wilful" and are asking witnesses to come forward.
DS Alan Sommerville of Saltcoats CID told the BBC: "At the moment we can find no motive for this wilful fire raising.
"I am appealing to anyone who was in the Carment Drive area of Stevenston in the early hours of Saturday morning and who may have seen someone hanging around or seen or heard anything in any way suspicious to get in touch as soon as possible."
