Two Stevenston youngsters get chance of a lifetime

North Ayrshire Council has announced that it will fund an opportunity for two young people to compete in the Tall Ships Race.

The Tall Ships Race 2011 comes to Greenock in the summer. 

Funding includes all travel between North Ayrshire and the vessel and all costs incurred while taking part in the project.

Successful applicants will take part in special sail training.   

Although the majority of funding is provided by the Council, crew members should each raise £100 towards the cost of their voyage.

 To apply you have to be 16-24 on the date of departure.

You also need a passport with 6 months validity remaining on date of return.

The deadline for applications is January 28, 2011.

The Tall Ships race would be a fantastic trip for anyone, those ships are really great to look at and visit, they have visited Vancouver from time to time and there is always a big lineup to get on them because they are so popular, just something about them that bring back all the old memories of the old pirate movies one has ever seen.
