Ex-Stevenston man hailed as hero after gas blast rescue
18 AugustAn ex-Stevenston man has been hailed as a hero after he saved two disabled pensioners from a a gas blast at their Benidorm home.
George Robertson, who emigrated to the sun from Stevenston with wife Kim a year ago, fought through smoke to rescue his friends from the Costa Blanca apartment block.
He pulled Dot Wield, 64, and Jim Dolan, 71, who both have mobility problems from their flat just before it exploded.
