Councillors' private talks about closing Stevenston's toy library
16 MarchNorth Ayrshire Council is holding a private meeting tomorrow, examining the future of its community facilities- including Stevenston’s toy library.
Last year North Ayrshire Council bosses revealed they were considering shutting it down to save them £116,000.
Tomorrow’s meeting, which all councillors are expected to attend, will be held behind closed doors.
Talks will centre around a draft report- as yet unseen by the public- which makes recommendations about the future of libraries, halls and community centres across North Ayrshire.
The report is believed to be the long awaited one from Grant Thornton consultants. This is the report that North Ayrshire Council paid £100k for.
The report has already come under fire, even before publication, as it was not ready for the Council’s budget meeting on February 2.
This was the crucial public meeting when which the councillors decided they would defer the closures for one year. You can read more about this here.
But the difference is, tomorrow’s meeting will be held in private. The public can not have their say on the report at this stage. North Ayrshire Council will currently not even reveal any details about the report.
